AUCSO Webinars

It was agreed at the recent Executive Group meeting that AUCSO would offer some webinar sessions on subjects of interest to members to partially compensate for no annual conferences due to the pandemic.  One of our Global Sponsors, CriticalArc, kindly offered to facilitate the webinars on their Zoom 500 Pro conference platform and provide us with technical support at no cost to AUCSO.

Webinar 1

10:15 (BST) Wednesday 21 April 2021

The Exec Group considered that as the Pandemic is still very much a topical subject for us all, that the first webinar would be focussed on impact of managing security in our institutions and lessons learned during the pandemic.  It was also agreed that it would be good to hear from our regional groups outwith the UK and hear of the challenges they have faced.  Three of our colleagues have kindly offered to be our presentation panel at the event.  Tara Murphy will present on behalf of the University of New South Wales and the Australasia Regional Group.  Benny Vandenberghe will present on behalf of the University of Gent and the Europe Regional Group.  Ray Wheatley will present on behalf of Dublin City University and the Ireland Regional Group

This Webinar will start at 10:15 on 21 April following on from the AGM.  Please note that the webinar is on a separate platform from the MS teams site hosting the AGM.

The format of the webinar will be that each of the 3 panellists will deliver a 10 minute presentation and thereafter some panel discussions with Q&A will follow.  Details of the agenda and speakers are available on the webinar booking page link at the bottom of this message.

Webinar 2

10:00 (BST) Wednesday 20 May 2021

For the second webinar it was agreed that external specialist speakers would present on topical subjects of interest to us all.  This will be in a slightly different format from Webinar 1.

Guest Speaker 1 will be Detective Superintendent Adam Thomson from NaCTSO and will be supported by Andreas Engelbrecht.  Detective Superintendent Thomson will present on NaCTSO updates and the new ‘Martyns Law’.

Guest Speaker 2 will be DI Lee Newman, County Lines Regional Coordinator Thames Valley Police, supported by Adrian Dennehy. DI Newman will present on Substance Misuse and how County Lines is impacting in universities.

There will be an opportunity for Q&A with each speaker after their individual presentations.

Note:

For Webinar 1 – advance questions for the panel are invited from members.  Please send any questions you may wish to put to the panel to Les Allan, who will chair the panel discussion.  There will be opportunities for ad hoc questions to the panel at the event.

Both Webinars will be recorded and links to them posted on AUCSO website for the benefit of members who are unable to join the live events.
