This two day AUCSO course is offered to members as an introduction to the key principles and good practice associated with emergency management and business continuity, with a view to building resilience within organisations. The course refers to the Business Continuity Institute Good Practice Guidelines 2013, ISO 22301:2012 and the AUCSO Resilience in Higher Education Guide. The course will cover:

  • The nature and impact of emergencies in regard to the HE/FE sector
  • The business continuity lifecycle
  • Approaches to risk management
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Communications during an emergency
  • Recovery and business continuity issues
  • Lessons learned from relevant case studies
  • Strategies for enhancing resilience

Delegates will also participate in a short desktop exercise. The course trainers are Peter Brinkley and Alan Cain MSc FSyl DBCI who will issue a certificate of attendance to all delegates.
