Revealed: The IFSEC Global influencers in security and fire 2019

Our warmest congratulations go to our very own Jennifer Ciolfi, Head of Precinct Services at the University of Dundee, who has been chosen as one of the IFSEC 2019 Global Influencers in Security Management. With nominations from around the globe, this is a remarkable achievement and fantastic news for Jennifer, the University of Dundee and the HE Sector. Jennifer’s nomination – Jennifer arrived in2016 and she hasn’t stopped working since. She has redeveloped the security program at theUniversity of Dundee and has delivered on the first two years of an impressive 4-year technology strategy. Jennifer has redefined the role of a Security Manager in a University to include aspects of Health andSafety, Project Management, Strategic Planning, and Student welfare. She contributes to theUniversity’s Emergency Preparedness and works with counterparts to help the University meet Prevent and Safeguarding responsibilities. Jennifer is an advocate for raising standards throughout the industry.

She is a role model to all her staff to continue learning and she ensures that her staff have access to ongoing training opportunities. She has worked with suppliers to create and introduce new security solutions and has worked with our Student Union to find innovate ways to increase student awareness and engagement. Jennifer takes the best practices from around the world and makes them part of our Security culture. 

Jennifer founded a Women in Security Network in Scotland for women working in higher education and through this she now offers mentorship for emerging leaders. In addition, she is working with local supporters to offer 2 scholarships for women to pursue education in Security Management. With Jennifer’s push to improve customer service; one of our Officers was nominated for a “Student Teaching Award”, presented to non-academic staff who impact the student experience. Through her leadership and guidance, the University of Dundee had become an example for excellent in operations and technology.
