With the Sunday Times University League Table published yesterday, it’s that time of year for university staff to gloat or groan, and in case you missed it, the CUG 2019 was also published last week which included the crime rates in university towns and cities in England and Wales (lucky N.Ireland and Scotland are not included). The statistics are taken from Police UK and are not specifically crimes against students but in the area where universities are located.

AUCSO has long debated the pros and cons of publicly reporting crime on campus and elected last year to not report our statistics to the CUG. However, we do encourage all our members to keep accurate crime and incident statistics for their campuses and publish a monthly report or have them available for staff and students.
