It is with much sadness to learn that the fire at Table Mountain reached the University of Cape Town yesterday and we hope that all the staff and students are safe. These traumatic events have an impact on all campus staff who are tasked with dealing with an emergency and the recovery, made twice as difficult during this pandemic.

Some of the AUCSO members will have fond memories of visiting the University campus during CAMPROSA conferences and we send our colleagues there our heartfelt sympathy and support.

This is a sad reminder that whilst dealing with crises, there can be another emergency to deal with, so it is worth reviewing emergency response, resilience and business continuity plans.
