The University of Central Lancashire is looking to appoint a Deputy Head of Security to lead the UCLan Security Team in the provision of a safe, secure and inclusive environment for all students, staff and visitors ensuring full compliance with statutory legislation and University policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will work in partnership with relevant colleagues across the University developing and managing the delivery of high standards of service as well as playing a key role in the University’s planning for and response to any emergency incidents.

The post holder will be responsible for providing effective and highly visible leadership to the Security Team, ensuring that robust standards of service delivery are delivered.   The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring effective and efficient allocation of staff resources and managing the recruitment, training, appraisal and performance of the Security Team and its associated budgets.  You will develop and monitor key operational processes, ensuring that staff are appropriately briefed and debriefed at the start and finish of their shifts, that intelligence is gathered and tasked accordingly and that any identified risks or threats are managed, or steps taken to mitigate.

The post holder will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) with a relevant professional qualification and with the ability to provide safety and security expertise, advice, and guidance in ensuring the optimum physical safety of the UCLan estate via efficient and effective use of CCTV, communication systems, intruder and fire alarm systems and any other relevant software / applications.  You will have the ability to establish relationships with people from external multi-agency backgrounds and be emotionally resilient in working calmly under pressure.
