Webinar: Security Staff Training in the HE Sector

We are pleased to announce that our next AUCSO Webinar will take place on

Tuesday 9 November 2021

08.45 – 09:50 (London Time)

Subject: Security Staff Training in the HE Sector

Following on from the member’s survey we conducted a number of weeks ago, the second most requested subject was for a webinar on security staff training in the HE sector. This follows the recent webinar on Standard Operating Procedures and Emergency Procedures that was delivered on 15/10/2021.

This webinar will focus on training and I am delighted that we have three fantastic speakers lined up for this webinar.

The webinar will be introduced and moderated by Laurence Perkins, Chair of our Midlands Regional Group

Our first guest speaker is Guy Collyer, Head of Academy at the Police Crime Prevention Academy (PCPA).  The Police Crime Prevention Academy was formed in 2017 with the specific objective of creating qualifications for police and others in all forms of crime prevention. This has now been extended to include similar subjects as requested by their client base. University Security Staff face specific challenges that many others do not and Guy will discuss how the PCPA can support AUCSO, and its members to ensure we get high quality policing qualifications provided by experts at cost.

Our second guest speaker will be Tony Holyland, Head of Individual Standards at the Security Industry Authority (SIA). Tony will discuss the training changes that the SIA have implemented this year as well as discussing the latest developments and future plans of the SIA.

Our third and final speaker will be Les Allan, Chair of AUCSO and the Chair of the AUCSO Training Group. Les will provide an update on the work of the AUCSO training group, and outline the training options for institutions and members to consider.

There will be an opportunity for a short Q&A immediately after each speaker.

Note: – this webinar is restricted to AUCSO members only due to the sensitive nature of content
